About the Scholarships: The guiding principles of those awarded scholarships through the Foundation are scholastic achievement, community service, documented financial need, and leadership. Persons meeting scholarship criteria can receive scholarships up to $1000.00 per year up to a total of four (4) years while attending a nationally accredited college or university. Scholarships are awarded directly to the student based on an application made directly to the Foundation or to various universities or community organizations as matching scholarship awards in support of their educational leadership programs. Scholarship funds may be used to defray the cost of books, tuition, room and board, laboratory supplies, or any other justifiable educational goal. Funds for vehicle purchase or servicing, telephone, utility or clothing. The Scholarship may not be used for pledging, travel, dues, or no other non-educational need. Scholarships may be requested for
a period of four (4) years and if selected, will be awarded on a semester basis based on proof of continuing to meet minimum scholarship criteria. Receipt of a copy of official grades will suffice for required proof of good standing with the university.
Eligibility Requirements: All applicants must meet the following criteria.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be accepted for admission or enrolled in a nationally accredited college of university.
- High school students must possess a minimum ACT score of 22 or a SAT score of 1150.
- College level students must possess a cumulative (two-semester) Grade Point Average of 3.2 or higher.
- Must show evidence of financial need or hardship.
- Must complete all parts and questions of the Foundation Scholarship Application. Printable forms are listed above.
- All applicants must provide a 2×4 or 3×5 color photograph taken within the last two months prior to submission.
- Applications must be postmarked on or before January 12th of the year prior to admission.
- All scholarship funds will be paid directly to the recipient for tuition, fees, books, room and board, or other direct
college expenses. - Immediate Foundation family members are not eligible to apply. All other American citizens are eligible regardless of
their race, color, creed, religion, ancestry, martial status, or physical disability. - Scholarship recipients will be selected prior to the end of May and notified accordingly. The self addressed stamped
enveloped provided with the application will be used to notify those applicants who will not receive a scholarship. - All successful applicants must consent to their photographs being placed on the Foundation Web Page. They must also
make a concerted effort to publize their selection via their local media outlets, i.e. graduation programs, scholarship
nights, school and local newspapers, newsletters, churches, and any other means that would publize their selection. - Mail all applications to: Bobby Phills Educational Awareness Foundation
